About Cryptid Vault
The cryptid web is a mess. Cluttered wikis, SEO-farm listicles, and walls of unsourced text. We thought the world's most fascinating unknown creatures deserved better.
Cryptid Vault is a visual-first encyclopedia. Think modern museum exhibit meets collector app. Every creature gets a curated profile with quick facts, evidence ratings, regional context, and related sightings. No ads, no clutter, no accounts required.
We take the data seriously even when the subject is speculative. Every entry includes evidence-level ratings, source attribution where available, and links to related real animals for context. Folklore deserves the same respect as field biology.
The site is built to be fast, filterable, and endlessly browsable. Discover creatures by region, habitat, body type, or evidence level. Track your discoveries with the built-in field journal. Share your favorites.
How We Work
Curated, Not Crowdsourced
Every creature profile is hand-written and reviewed. No wiki-style free-for-all.
Evidence Rated
Each cryptid gets an honest evidence-level rating from "Folklore only" to "Physical evidence claims."
Growing Weekly
New creatures and articles are added regularly. Subscribe to Field Notes to stay in the loop.
Built for Browsing
Filter by region, habitat, body type, danger level, or just hit "Surprise Me" and fall down the rabbit hole.
